Skeleton Balls began in 2004 as a comic strip counter-agent to the dismal quality of comics that were available to the mass public in print and internet. It is a sad state when a typical newspaper page of 30+ cartoons squeezes few, if any, moments of humor or thought among its pages of dusty, syndicated replicas of comics past.It is even more disheartening that only a few short years later, comics have all but disappeared from our local news weeklies, and the likes of Doonesbury and Tom Tomorrow are banished to the op-ed section in many US publications. So, this isn't a newspaper, you say. It's the interweb. Well, okay, but if the Internet is the Pantheon of the Modern Mess, this is my contribution. May you find some delight and thoughtfulness among these webpages. |

Most of my drawing occurs in my ramshackle office, where neighborhood folklore claims a murder took place in the early 1900s. ...a murder of most despicable, domestic dramatics. -Nils Balls lives in a crooked, old house on the North Side of Pittsburgh, PA. | |
